The vibe
Spotting animals in the state‑run reserves feels like entering a living exhibit where rangers are ever‑present, giving the outing a reverent, almost ceremonial tone. Autumn and early winter draw the most activity as creatures gather before the cold. Visits are tightly guided, limited in number, and carry a pilgrimage‑like atmosphere.

Due to decades of restricted human access, the Demilitarized Zone has become an accidental wildlife sanctuary. It hosts rare species including the red-crowned crane, white-naped crane, and the elusive Amur leopard cat.
Access. Restricted access; must be visited through authorized government-sanctioned eco-tours.
