The cooler migration periods in spring and autumn bring the highest activity for spotting species. You move through these quiet habitats mostly unbothered, with visitor numbers remaining low and largely self-directed.

This vital wetland oasis serves as a critical stopover for migratory birds traveling along the African-Eurasian flyway. Visitors can observe a diverse array of species, including flamingos, herons, and various raptors, amidst the rare greenery of the Kuwaiti landscape.
Access. Located near Kuwait City, the reserve is accessible by car; visitors should coordinate with the Kuwait Environment Protection Society for entry permissions.
Notes. Best visited during the spring and autumn migration seasons. Photography requires prior authorization.
Bubiyan Island

As Kuwait's largest island, Bubiyan features extensive mudflats and salt marshes that provide a sanctuary for nesting seabirds and migratory waders. It is a rugged, remote destination known for its undisturbed coastal ecosystems and significant crab plover populations.
Access. Access is highly restricted and requires special permits from the Kuwaiti government; typically reached via organized research or specialized eco-tours.
Notes. Strict environmental regulations apply to protect the fragile salt marsh habitats. No public infrastructure exists on the island.
