The vibe
Spotting wildlife here centers on the dramatic tidal shifts that expose vast rocky reefs and sandflats teeming with seabirds and grey seals. Summer low tides bring out the most active coastal foraging and marine life viewing across the exposed seabed. It is a completely open, DIY experience where you wander the intertidal zones alongside local birdwatchers without any ticketing or ranger stations.

Minquiers
These remote reef plateaus and sandbanks are essential habitats for Atlantic grey seals and common bottlenose dolphins. They offer a rare opportunity to observe marine mammals in a rugged, tidal environment far from the main island shores.
Access. Accessible via private boat charters or RIB tours departing from St Helier, weather and tide permitting.
Notes. Strict adherence to marine mammal watching codes of conduct is required; keep a respectful distance to avoid disturbing resting seals.
