The vibe
The experience is centered on quiet observation of monkeys in the canopy and exotic birds darting through the undergrowth rather than a high-octane safari. Early mornings in the drier season provide the best visibility for spotting creatures as they emerge from the shade. It feels like a peaceful, solitary walk through nature where you are more likely to encounter a local farmer than a crowd of other tourists.

Levera National Park

Levera is a critical nesting site for endangered leatherback sea turtles, which arrive on the pristine beaches to lay eggs between March and July. The park also features a coastal lagoon that is a sanctuary for numerous species of waterfowl and migratory birds.
Access. Located on the northern tip of the island; guided night tours are required during turtle nesting season to ensure protection of the animals.
Notes. Strict regulations apply during nesting season; visitors must be accompanied by certified guides to observe the turtles without disturbing them.
