El Paredon is the premier surf destination in Guatemala, offering consistent beach breaks that cater to all skill levels. The village has developed a vibrant surf culture with several schools and camps right on the sand.
Access. Accessible by shuttle or private transport from Antigua or Guatemala City, followed by a short boat crossing across the mangrove channel. Multiple surf schools and rental shops are located directly on the beach.
Notes. Strong rip currents are common; always check with local instructors before paddling out. Best season is typically May through October.

The Caribbean coast near Puerto Barrios offers unique flat-water conditions in the sheltered bay, making it the primary destination for kitesurfing in the country. The consistent thermal winds provide excellent opportunities for kite progression.
Access. Accessible by road from Guatemala City. Local kite operators provide gear rentals and instruction for visitors looking to ride the bay's consistent winds.
Notes. Best wind conditions are typically found during the dry season months when trade winds are most reliable.
