Estuaire Province

Located just north and across the estuary from the capital, these coastal stretches catch Atlantic swells coming up through the Gulf of Guinea. Consistent beach breaks and gentle point setups offer fun waves for surfers looking to explore an off-the-beaten-path African surf destination.
Access. Accessible via 4x4 vehicles north of Libreville towards Cap Santa Clara, or by taking a short boat shuttle across the Gabon Estuary to Pointe Denis beaches. Surf gear must be brought along as dedicated rental shops are limited.
Notes. Remote coastline with strong tropical currents and potential marine wildlife. Check local conditions and tides before heading out.
Loango National Park Coast

Famous for its pristine wilderness where elephants and hippos roam onto the sand, the coastal fringe of Loango National Park also receives powerful, unridden Atlantic swells. The untouched beach breaks offer a truly wild surfing adventure for self-reliant expeditions.
Access. Reached via domestic flight to the park airstrip or 4x4 expedition vehicles from Gamba or Libreville, arranged through specialized eco-tourism lodges.
Notes. Strictly for experienced remote travelers; wildlife encounters on the beach require extreme caution, and medical infrastructure is very far away.
Mayumba Peninsula Coast

Situated in the extreme south of Gabon, the narrow Mayumba Peninsula separates the ocean from a vast lagoon system, creating an exposed coastline facing uninterrupted Southern Ocean swells. Powerful, raw beach breaks roll onto pristine leatherback turtle nesting beaches.
Access. Accessible by 4x4 road journeys down through southern Gabon from Tchibanga. Independent travel requires careful planning and self-sufficiency.
Notes. Very remote region with strong currents, shark presence, and protected wildlife zones. Exercise extreme caution.
Port-Gentil Coastline
