The vibe
The Bahamas offers mellow, rolling waves ideal for beginners and intermediate surfers. Consistent swells from late spring to early fall make it the best surf season. Surf spots are popular with tourists, yet many breaks remain relatively uncrowded and feel local.

The Abacos feature expansive shallow lagoons and reliable wind, making them a hub for kiteboarding and wingfoiling. The geography provides protected flat water even when the outer Atlantic is choppy.
Access. Fly into Marsh Harbour; local kite instructors and rental services are available on the main island and nearby cays like Elbow Cay.
Notes. Best wind conditions occur from December through April. Be mindful of shallow coral heads in certain lagoon areas.
Exuma Kite Flats

The shallow, crystal-clear turquoise waters surrounding the Exuma Cays provide world-class conditions for kitesurfing and wingfoiling. The vast sandbars and consistent trade winds create a massive, flat-water playground for all skill levels.
Access. Accessible by boat from George Town or via local kite schools that operate mobile setups across the cays. Several operators provide gear rentals and instruction.
Notes. Tide-dependent; best ridden during mid-to-low tide to expose the sandbars. Respect local marine protected areas.
