The vibe
There are no ocean waves in Armenia, so traditional surfing isn’t possible. The only water‑sport alternatives are wind‑surfing on the lake, which feels more like kite‑boarding than board‑riding. Visitors looking for surf culture will have to look elsewhere.

Lake Sevan is the primary hub for wind-powered board sports in Armenia, offering reliable thermal winds during the summer months. It is a popular destination for kiteboarding and wingfoiling enthusiasts looking for flat-water conditions in a high-altitude setting.
Access. Located about an hour's drive from Yerevan, the lake features several seasonal kite schools and rental operators concentrated around the northern and western shores near Sevanavank.
Notes. Best wind conditions occur from June to September; water temperatures can be brisk even in summer.
