Spearfishing here operates within strict local regulations and is largely prohibited in protected marine areas and coastal parks. Because of comprehensive conservation laws, travelers will find virtually no open recreational fishery or accessible visitor infrastructure for this activity. It is not a viable trip option for visiting holidaymakers.

Access. Reached by ferry from Taitung. While there are no dedicated spearfishing charters, local dive operators can often assist with logistics, and shore access is possible for experienced divers.
Notes. Spearfishing is permitted outside of the designated marine protected areas. Always check current zoning maps as regulations are enforced to protect coral reefs. Scuba spearfishing is illegal.

Orchid Island offers a remote, pristine environment with deep blue water and vibrant reef systems. It is favored by those seeking a more challenging, isolated experience away from the mainland crowds.
Access. Accessible by ferry or flight from Taitung. Access is primarily DIY; travelers should be self-sufficient and respect the local Tao culture and traditional fishing grounds.
Notes. Traditional fishing rights are highly respected here; always consult with local village leaders before entering the water. Spearfishing is legal, but scuba-assisted spearfishing is strictly forbidden.
