The Balearic archipelago, particularly the waters around Mallorca and Menorca, features stunning limestone formations and deep drop-offs. It is a premier location for Mediterranean species like sea bream and amberjack in both shallow rocky areas and deeper blue water.
Access. Excellent infrastructure for boat-based spearfishing with numerous local charters available in Palma and Mahón. Shore access is also plentiful for experienced divers.
Notes. A specific recreational fishing license is required. Spearfishing is prohibited in designated marine reserves (Reservas Marinas), which are strictly enforced. Night spearfishing and the use of scuba gear while spearfishing are strictly illegal.

Access. Highly accessible for DIY shore diving from numerous coastal towns like Begur or Palafrugell, with many local clubs providing information on zones.
Notes. A recreational fishing license (licencia de pesca marítima recreativa) is mandatory for all spearfishing activities in Catalonia. Strict no-take zones exist within marine reserves like Cap de Creus; always verify local boundaries before entering the water.
