The Banc d'Arguin National Park is a massive, nutrient-rich coastal zone where the cold Canary Current meets the desert, creating one of the most productive fisheries in the world. Travelers visit this region for the incredible density of pelagic and demersal species, hunting in shallow, sandy-bottomed channels and near the extensive tidal flats.
Access. Access is highly specialized and requires coordinating with local fishing cooperatives or specialized expedition operators based in Nouadhibou who provide boat support for multi-day trips into the park. DIY shore hunting is difficult due to the vast, remote nature of the terrain and the requirement for park permits.
Notes. Access to the National Park requires a mandatory permit and entry fee. All hunting must be conducted in accordance with strict park regulations, which often limit take to specific species and sizes to preserve the ecosystem. Hiring a local guide is essential for navigating the complex tidal currents.
