Spearfishing here is a traditional practice that feels deeply connected to the local way of life rather than a recreational sport for visitors. The hunt is most productive during the dry season when the seas are predictable and the water clarity allows for better spotting. It is a highly localized experience that requires you to integrate with local fishers to understand the coastal terrain.

Ghana's southernmost cape features rocky outcrops, warm Atlantic swells, and nutrient-rich waters that attract diverse coastal marine life. Spearfishers explore the rocky reefs and kelp-adjacent drop-offs around Cape Three Points targeting grouper, snapper, and jacks.
Access. Access is primarily DIY by shore-diving from the rocky beaches around Dixcove and Cape Three Points, or by hiring local fishermen with dugout canoes who know the productive submerged reefs.
