Spearfishing is not a standard visitor activity in this country and remains largely outside the scope of recreational tourism. You will find no established scene or support for this, making it an impractical choice for a trip.

The coastal waters off Brunei-Muara offer a rugged, largely untapped environment for spearfishing enthusiasts looking for a quiet, remote experience. Hunters target snapper and grouper around the rocky outcrops and nearshore reefs that characterize this stretch of the South China Sea.
Access. Access is primarily through private boat charters arranged via local fishing clubs or independent boatmen based in Muara Port. There are no dedicated spearfishing shops, so visitors must bring their own specialized gear.
Notes. Spearfishing is legal but strictly regulated; visitors should consult the Fisheries Department of Brunei for current permits and restricted zones. Avoid all marine protected areas and oil/gas infrastructure zones which are strictly off-limits.
