Snorkeling in the ancient mangrove forests of Kalba offers a unique look at a vital nursery ecosystem. While visibility is lower than open-reef sites, the experience of swimming among the intricate root systems and spotting juvenile fish and crabs is unmatched.

Access. Boat access is required to reach the best reef sections located slightly offshore.
Notes. Visibility is tide-dependent; best visited during high tide for optimal clarity.
Sir Bu Nuair Island

Located about 65km off the coast of Abu Dhabi, this island is a protected nature reserve with some of the most pristine coral reefs in the Persian Gulf. The water clarity here is significantly higher than near the mainland, offering a true offshore snorkeling experience.
Access. Requires a private boat charter or organized day-trip from Abu Dhabi or Dubai marinas.
Notes. Permission is required to land on the island as it is a protected turtle nesting site; snorkeling is restricted to the surrounding waters.
Snoopy Island, Fujairah

Named for its resemblance to the cartoon character, this iconic rock formation offers the best shore-based snorkeling in the UAE. The surrounding shallow reefs are teeming with blacktip reef sharks, turtles, and a variety of colorful tropical fish in clear, protected waters.
Access. Shore entry from the Sandy Beach Resort or via boat tours from nearby Fujairah marinas.
Notes. Currents can pick up on the outer edges; stay within the marked swimming zones.
