The vibe
Snorkeling is virtually non-existent here, as the heavy Atlantic swell and shifting coastal sands keep the inshore water perpetually murky. Visitors looking for clear-water reef exploration will find no established operators or shallow gardens to swim above. The coastline is geared entirely toward raw ocean power and desertscapes rather than underwater viewing.

This vast UNESCO-listed marine park offers shallow, nutrient-rich waters where the Atlantic meets the desert. Snorkelers can observe a unique convergence of marine life, including rays and diverse fish species, in the calm, protected tidal channels.
Access. Access is strictly regulated; visitors must hire authorized local guides from Iwik or Mamghar to reach the best snorkel spots by traditional pirogue.
