The vibe
Winter brings snow to the highest mountain ranges, but there are no chairlifts, groomed runs, or ski lodges waiting for winter sports enthusiasts. The peaks see occasional cold storms, yet the infrastructure for downhill recreation simply does not exist anywhere in the country. Anyone venturing onto the snowy slopes does so entirely on their own backcountry terms without rental shops or piste maps.

While Jordan is primarily arid, the high-altitude volcanic peaks of the Jabal al-Arab range occasionally receive significant snowfall during winter months. It is a niche destination for adventurous locals and travelers seeking rare backcountry snow experiences in the Middle East.
Access. Accessible by 4x4 vehicle from Amman; visitors typically base themselves in nearby towns like As-Suwayda or local mountain villages.
Notes. Snowfall is highly irregular and dependent on specific winter storm patterns; no formal lift infrastructure exists.
