Skiing in Portugal is geographically impossible due to the lack of reliable snowfall and towering alpine infrastructure. You might catch a rare dusting on the highest plateau during mid-winter, but there are no proper ski resorts or lifts to speak of. Visitors looking for winter sports will need to look elsewhere in Europe.

Portugal's sole ski resort is situated in the highest mountain range of the mainland, offering a compact network of groomed runs primarily suited for beginners and intermediate skiers. While snow conditions can be highly variable and heavily dependent on winter storms, it provides a unique Iberian snow experience with views stretching across the rugged plateau.
Access. Accessible by car from Porto or Lisbon via major highways leading towards Covilhã and Torre. The resort features a handful of ski lifts, equipment rental shops, and base facilities right on the mountain.
Notes. The ski season is notoriously short and unpredictable, generally spanning from January to March depending on natural snowfall. Altitude reaches around 2,000 meters.
