The vibe
Skiing here is practically nonexistent, as the high-altitude volcanic peaks lack reliable snowpacks, ski lifts, or resort infrastructure. You might occasionally scramble up a lingering patch of glacial ice on the highest summit, but it is purely an extreme mountaineering feat rather than a winter holiday. There are no lifts, no lodges, and no snow culture to speak of.

Located in the Sierra de Arteaga mountains, this is Mexico's only dedicated ski resort featuring a synthetic slope for year-round practice and occasional natural snowfall in winter. It offers a unique experience for those looking to ski in a high-altitude pine forest environment in Northern Mexico.
Access. Accessible via a 45-minute drive from Saltillo or a 90-minute drive from Monterrey. Visitors typically base themselves in Saltillo or at the resort's own mountain cabins.
Notes. Natural snow is rare and unpredictable; the resort relies heavily on its artificial slope technology. High altitude requires acclimatization.
