The vibe
There are no ski resorts, chairlifts, or winter sports infrastructure anywhere in the country to support a snow holiday. Winter brings heavy snow to the northern peaks, but accessing them involves backcountry touring without any groomed runs or avalanche reports. It is completely undeveloped for snow sports.

Located in the Zagros Mountains, this resort offers a unique snow experience in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. While primarily a leisure destination, it provides opportunities for snow play and light skiing during the winter months when the peaks are blanketed in snow.
Access. Accessible via a scenic cable car ride from the base station near Rawandiz, located about a two-hour drive from Erbil International Airport (EBL).
Notes. Season is highly dependent on snowfall, typically peaking between January and February. Facilities are modest compared to international standards.
