The vibe
Armenia’s ski slopes are modest, perched at high altitude with sweeping mountain views, offering a more intimate experience than big resorts. Snow season runs from December to March, when reliable snow covers the runs. The resorts are quiet, catering mainly to locals and a few organized visitors.

As the highest peak in Armenia, Mount Aragats serves as a premier destination for backcountry touring and off-piste exploration. The volcanic massif offers vast, untracked snowfields and challenging routes for experienced ski mountaineers.
Access. Access is primarily via the road to the Byurakan Observatory or the Kari Lake area. Requires local guides or significant mountaineering experience to navigate the high-altitude terrain.
Notes. Strictly for experienced backcountry travelers; avalanche awareness and proper gear are essential as there is no resort infrastructure.
Tsaghkadzor Ski Resort

Tsaghkadzor is Armenia's premier winter destination, offering a well-developed lift system and varied terrain on the slopes of Mount Teghenis. It is highly regarded for its long runs, deep snow conditions, and a vibrant après-ski scene that caters to international travelers.
Access. Located about an hour's drive from Yerevan, travelers typically base in the town of Tsaghkadzor or commute from the capital. The resort features a multi-stage chairlift system reaching the summit.
Notes. Season typically runs from mid-December to March; altitude at the summit reaches nearly 2,800 meters.
