Access. Sailing yachts and catamarans can be chartered out of marinas in Naha, Okinawa.
Notes. Typhoon season runs from June to October; winter brings brisk northerly monsoons.

Access. Sailboats and dinghies are available through local yacht clubs and marinas along the shoreline in Shiga Prefecture.
Notes. Subject to sudden gusty winds known as 'Ibuki Oroshi' descending from nearby mountains.

Sheltered between Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu, the Seto Inland Sea offers thousands of islands, calm waters, and scenic passages for coastal cruising and island-hopping. Sailors experience mild currents and historic port towns while navigating between picturesque fishing villages.
Access. Accessible via marinas and boat rental operators in Hiroshima, Okayama, and Takamatsu.
Notes. Navigation requires attention to heavy commercial traffic and narrow strait currents. Spring and autumn offer the most stable cruising conditions.
