Spring and autumn offer the most pleasant breeze and temperature conditions for spending hours on the deck. The trip feels raw and exploratory, completely devoid of bareboat charters or marina infrastructure.

The Shatt al-Arab delta offers a unique, albeit challenging, environment for traditional dhow-style sailing where the Tigris and Euphrates meet the Persian Gulf. Sailors navigate the brackish waters and tidal channels that have historically served as the primary maritime gateway for the region.
Access. Access is primarily through local maritime clubs and private dhow operators based in Basra and Al-Faw, where traditional wooden vessels are maintained for coastal navigation.
Notes. Navigation requires local knowledge due to shifting silt banks and tidal currents; best visited during the cooler months from October to April.
