Lipno Lake, located in the scenic Šumava region, is Czechia's largest reservoir and primary inland sailing hub. Favorable thermal winds and wide water expanses create excellent conditions for dinghy sailing, small keelboat cruising, and recreational regattas.
Access. Access is centered around marinas and yacht clubs in towns like Frymburk and Lipno nad Vltavou, where local boat rentals and sailing schools operate.
Notes. Best sailed between May and September; watch out for sudden gusty winds rolling down from the surrounding hills.
Máchovo jezero

Máchovo jezero (Mácha's Lake) is a historic recreational lake in northern Czechia with a vibrant local sailing tradition. Its shallow waters and scenic pine-forested shores make it a popular spot for weekend cruising and dinghy sailing.
Access. Sailing facilities, boat slips, and rental services are accessible from the main resort town of Doksy and Staré Splavy.
Notes. Busy with recreational boaters and swimmers during peak summer weekends.
Nové Mlýny Reservoirs

The Nové Mlýny reservoir cascade beneath the Pálava hills offers wide-open waters and reliable winds in southern Moravia. It is a favored venue for windsurfing, catamaran sailing, and dinghy cruising against a backdrop of vineyards.
Access. Accessible via boat ramps and small clubs located around Pavlov and Strachotín.
Notes. Strong prevailing winds can pick up quickly, providing sporty conditions for experienced sailors.
Slapy Reservoir

Slapy Reservoir is a popular long, meandering lake on the Vltava River just south of Prague. Its sheltered waters and numerous yacht clubs make it a convenient and lively cruising area for weekend sailors and dinghy racers.
Access. Numerous marinas, clubs, and boat hire bases operate along the shores, particularly near Nová Rabyně and Ždáň.
Notes. Very popular with Prague residents; expect high recreational traffic on summer weekends.
