Kayaking along Malta’s coast feels like threading through a labyrinth of sea‑caves and hidden inlets, offering a tactile sense of the island’s geological past. Spring and early autumn provide pleasant breezes and calm seas ideal for paddling. Most go on self‑guided outings, renting a kayak and setting off alone or with a small group, giving a DIY, low‑key atmosphere.

Circumnavigate rugged limestone cliffs, secret sea caves, and crystal-clear turquoise waters around Gozo Island. This Mediterranean touring ground attracts sea kayakers with dramatic coastal formations and hidden inlets like Dwejra.
Access. Sea kayak rentals and guided day tours are available from operators based in Marsalforn and Xlendi, or launching directly from Hondoq ir-Rummien.
Notes. Best paddled from spring to autumn. Strong currents and winds can affect exposed northern channels; intermediate skill recommended for full circumnavigations.

Paddle beneath sheer southern sea cliffs that drop hundreds of feet into the Mediterranean, winding in and out of glowing blue sea caves near Wied iz-Zurrieq. This wild coast offers dramatic scenery far removed from the tourist resorts.
Access. Advanced guided sea-kayak trips launch from Marsaxlokk or nearby slipways when sea conditions permit.
Notes. Highly exposed to southern swells; suitable only for experienced sea kayakers in stable weather windows.
