Dokan Lake is a massive, scenic reservoir surrounded by the rugged Zagros Mountains, offering calm, expansive waters for touring. It is the premier flatwater kayaking destination in the Kurdistan region, known for its dramatic mountain backdrops and serene atmosphere.
Access. Access is primarily from the town of Dokan, where local tourism operators and small boat clubs provide kayak rentals and guided day trips along the shoreline.
Notes. Best visited in spring and autumn when temperatures are moderate. Summer can be extremely hot.
