The rugged volcanic coastline of Grande Comore provides dramatic sea-kayaking opportunities, particularly along the northern shores near Mitsamiouli. Paddlers can navigate past black lava cliffs and turquoise lagoons that are otherwise inaccessible from the shore.
Access. Kayaks can be rented through specialized adventure travel operators or select beach resorts in the Mitsamiouli region that cater to active travelers.
Notes. The ocean swells can be significant; check local tide charts and wind conditions before launching, as the coast is exposed to the open Indian Ocean.
