The Great Sound offers protected turquoise waters dotted with numerous small, uninhabited islands perfect for exploration. Paddlers can navigate through calm, shallow channels and reach secluded coves that are inaccessible by larger vessels.
Access. Numerous kayak rental operators are based in Hamilton and Somerset, offering guided eco-tours and equipment rentals for independent exploration of the islands.
Notes. Best paddled from May to October; be aware of boat traffic in main channels.
