The vibe
Walking here means crossing high pastoral saddles where cowbells echo across plunging valleys, feeling entirely different from the rolling hills found elsewhere. Mid-summer through early autumn brings the clearest alpine light and fully open mountain huts. You share the broad, well-marked network with generations of local families and equipped day-trippers alike, keeping the atmosphere purposefully orderly.

A scenic valley trail following the emerald-green waters of the Verzasca River through ancient stone villages, forests, and smooth granite gorges. The walk features historic double-arched stone bridges and tranquil riverside tracks.
Access. Accessible via bus from Tenero or Locarno into the Verzasca Valley (Ticino canton, near the Italian border region).
Notes. Popular swimming spots in summer, but strong river currents require caution.
