Hiking in Singapore
Including MacRitchie Reservoir Park and Treetop Walk. On the map.
The vibe
Trekking through Singapore’s green corridors feels less like a backcountry expedition and more like an immersive walk through a dense, tropical greenhouse wrapped around a modern metropolis. Early mornings before the equatorial heat sets in are the ideal time to slip beneath the canopy. You will share the paved paths and boardwalks with local joggers and families, making it a casual, highly accessible urban escape rather than a remote wilderness trek.

A dense secondary rainforest loop featuring boardwalks, dirt trails, and the iconic suspension bridge spanning the forest canopy. Expect humid jungle walking with resident long-tailed macaques, monitor lizards, and rich birdlife.
Access. Easily reached via bus or MRT to Marymount, followed by a short walk to the MacRitchie Reservoir park entrance. Trails are free to access and open daily.
Notes. Canopy walk closed on Mondays for maintenance. Stay hydrated due to high humidity and watch out for cheeky macaques grabbing food.
