Hiking in Philippines

Including Banaue Rice Terraces Trails, Cambugahay and Salagdoong Coastal Paths, and Mount Apo Natural Park. On the map.

The vibe

Trekking here means tackling steep, humid volcanic slopes and razor-sharp limestone ridges with local guides who treat the mountains with deep reverence. The dry months from November to May offer the most reliable trails, avoiding the treacherous mud and sudden typhoons of the wetter season. It feels wonderfully grassroots and communal, often involving village home stays and chatting with local farmers over instant coffee before a predawn push to the summit.
