Kpo Range

Explore the forested hills and rocky bluffs of the Kpo Range in western Liberia. Day hikes lead through dense secondary forest, traditional settlements, and scenic viewpoints overlooking river valleys. The walking is moderately challenging and rich in local culture.
Access. Travel from Bomi or Grand Cape Mount County via local vehicle hire, with community guides arranged in nearby villages.
Notes. Trails can be overgrown during the rainy season; proper footwear and leech protection are recommended.

Traverse one of West Africa's last primary lowland rainforests on guided wilderness tracks. Expect towering ancient mahogany trees, swamp crossings, and exceptional wildlife spotting including pygmy hippos and forest elephants. Trails are remote, humid, and demand proper expedition preparation.
