Hike through lush tropical vegetation down into a hidden limestone gorge to discover a series of stunning, vibrant blue cascading pools. The trail involves steep, rocky descents and short scrambles along the canyon walls before reaching the dramatic waterfall drops. It is a rewarding half-day excursion combining tropical foliage and pristine swimming grottos.
Access. Located just outside Jacmel; reached via a bumpy tap-tap or motorcycle taxi ride followed by a guided hike down the gorge.
Notes. Local guides at the trailhead are mandatory to assist with steep sections and river crossings.
Citadelle Laferrière Historic Trail

Ascend the historic mountain trail climbing steeply through verdant northern hillsides up to the massive mountaintop fortress of Citadelle Laferrière. The path follows rugged stone tracks and shaded dirt switchbacks offering intermittent coastal vistas of Cap-Haïtien. It is a strenuous day walk blending rich historical significance with rewarding uphill cardio.
Access. Start from the village of Milot; the trail can be walked on foot or tackled via horseback with local handlers.
Notes. Exposed sections can be very hot in the midday sun; early morning starts are strongly recommended.
