Hiking in Grenada
Including Mount St. Catherine. On the map.
The vibe
You are navigating lush, volcanic ridges where the humidity clings to the canopy and the path often turns into a muddy scramble through dense rainforest. The dry season from January to May makes for the most reliable footing, though the trails remain a verdant, tropical slog regardless of the calendar. It feels like a genuine DIY expedition where you navigate by instinct and local signage rather than groomed, manicured park paths.
You pay a small entry fee at the gate for managed forest reserves.

As the highest peak in Grenada, this challenging hike takes you through dense rainforest and rugged volcanic terrain to reach the summit. The trail offers a rewarding, albeit muddy and steep, experience for experienced hikers seeking panoramic views of the island's lush interior.
Access. The trailhead is typically accessed from the northern side near Victoria; hiring a local guide is highly recommended due to the poorly marked and demanding nature of the path.
Notes. Expect very muddy conditions and steep, slippery sections; avoid during heavy rainfall.
