Access. Accessible by 4x4 vehicle from the North Bank Road; visitors are encouraged to hire a local guide from the nearby villages to navigate the park's network of tracks.
Notes. Best visited during the dry season (November to May) to avoid impassable muddy tracks.
River Gambia National Park

Located on a series of islands, this park provides a serene environment for walking trails that wind through dense gallery forests and riverine habitats. The trails offer a chance to spot chimpanzees and other wildlife in a protected, lush setting.
Access. Access is primarily by boat from the town of Janjanbureh, which serves as the main base for organizing guided treks and nature walks.
Notes. Access to the islands is strictly regulated to protect the primate population; guided tours are mandatory.
Tanji Bird Reserve

This coastal reserve features a network of sandy paths that meander through coastal scrub, dunes, and lagoons. It is an ideal spot for a gentle, scenic walk with constant views of the Atlantic Ocean and abundant birdlife.
Access. Located just south of the main coastal tourist hub, it is easily reached by taxi or local transport from Tanji village.
