Hiking in British Virgin Islands
Including Sage Mountain National Park. On the map.
The vibe
Walking here feels like navigating a lush, vertical jungle where paths often lead to sudden, sweeping views of turquoise bays rather than mountain peaks. The cooler, drier months from December to April make for the most comfortable trekking, as the humidity can be intense during the summer. You will find the trails mostly quiet and self-guided, offering a sense of solitude that feels far removed from the busier cruise ports.

Rising to the highest point in the British Virgin Islands, this lush park features a network of trails through a rare mahogany forest. Hikers can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding islands and the Sir Francis Drake Channel from the summit ridge.
Access. Accessible by car or taxi from Road Town; the trailhead is well-marked and requires a short, moderate hike to reach the peak.
Notes. The trails can be muddy after rain; bring sturdy footwear.
