Freediving in Seychelles
Including Anse Source d'Argent and Beau Vallon Bay. On the map.
The vibe
Gliding down alongside granite walls into deep, clear blue water feels wonderfully raw and unstructured compared to heavily buoyed training hubs. The best conditions align when the winds drop and surface chop disappears entirely. It is a completely self-guided affair here, as dedicated apnea infrastructure is practically non-existent.

Famed for its dramatic granite boulder formations, this shallow coastal stretch offers crystal-clear turquoise waters ideal for shallow reef exploration on a single breath. Freedivers can weave through granite mazes and observe abundant juvenile reef fish in calm conditions.
Access. Accessible by bicycle or foot from La Passe after entering the L'Union Estate; guided snorkeling and breath-hold tours are available locally.
Notes. Currents can pick up around the outer reef points; respect marine park conservation guidelines.

Beau Vallon offers warm, clear water over sandy bottoms and fringing reefs, providing an accessible playground for breath-hold practice and relaxed training. Local operators offer guided apnea sessions and introductory freediving instruction right off the protected beach.
Access. Easily reached from Victoria via short taxi or bus; independent freediving clubs and instructors operate directly along the main beachfront.
Notes. Watch out for occasional jet ski and boat traffic close to shore during peak tourist hours.
