The vibe
Breath‑hold dives here are framed by steep limestone walls that plunge straight into clear water, giving a sense of vertical freedom rarely found on flatter coasts. The calmest conditions arrive in the shoulder months, when winds die down and the sea is glassy. A handful of local clubs host informal meet‑ups, but most visitors simply drop in with their own gear and find a quiet spot.
Batroun Coastline

Batroun features clear Mediterranean waters, rocky shallows, and ancient Phoenician wall formations that drop into sandy and rocky bottoms. Local breath-hold practitioners and coastal clubs frequently utilize this zone for relaxed depth sessions and coastal exploration.
Access. Easily accessible from shore via public beaches or rocky entry points in Batroun, with local independent freediving groups organizing weekend sessions.
Notes. Watch out for occasional boat traffic near the harbor and coastal swells during winter months.
Jounieh Bay

Sheltered by a wide crescent bay, Jounieh provides calm conditions that are frequently utilized by local freediving clubs for training sessions and buoyancy control.
Access. Accessible from various beach clubs and public access points along the bay coastline.
Notes. Jetskis and motorized watercraft operate actively inside the bay during summer—use a surface marker buoy (SMB).
Tyre Coast Nature Reserve

As part of a protected southern reserve, Tyre boasts some of the cleanest sandy bottoms and clearest waters in Lebanon. Freedivers visit for relaxed coastal swimming and open-water breath-hold sessions in a protected natural setting.
Access. Shore entry is available from the long public sandy and rocky stretches within the Tyre Coast Nature Reserve boundaries.
Notes. Adhere strictly to local nature reserve guidelines and protect the nesting habitats of marine turtles.
