The vibe
Cold, fast-moving water and massive tidal swings demand deep respect, turning every descent into an intimate read of powerful ocean currents. The summer months bring the most forgiving water temperatures and longest days for working the rocky shelves. It is entirely a self-guided affair here, sharing the water with spearfishers and coastal explorers rather than structured breath-hold academies.

Bouley Bay offers one of the most accessible deep-water entries in Jersey, with a steep seabed drop-off that provides immediate access to significant depth. It is a favored spot for local freedivers to practice line training in a sheltered environment protected from the prevailing south-westerly winds.
Access. The bay is easily accessed by road with a slipway entry. Local freediving groups and instructors based in St. Helier organize regular shore-based training sessions here.
