The vibe
There is no organized breath-hold diving scene or training culture along this coastline, leaving the water entirely to traditional subsistence divers. The unpredictable currents and limited visibility make casual apnea sessions a purely exploratory and self-supported endeavor. You will find no clubs or fellow freedivers here, just local fishermen diving down for shellfish without modern gear.

Located just off the coast of Conakry, these islands offer clear Atlantic waters and rocky reef structures ideal for breath-hold exploration. Freedivers frequent the surrounding bays for calm, consistent conditions away from the mainland's sediment.
Access. Access is via private boat charters from Conakry; local freediving enthusiasts and small community-led groups organize trips to the outer islands where water clarity is highest.
Notes. Strong tidal currents can occur between the islands; always check local conditions before entering the water.
