Lake Langano is one of the few bilharzia-free lakes in Ethiopia, offering a unique freshwater freediving environment. The water is known for its reddish-brown hue due to high mineral content, providing a calm, still-water setting for breath-hold training and static apnea practice.
Access. Accessible via the resorts on the eastern shore, where local freediving enthusiasts organize informal training sessions. It is best reached by private transport from Addis Ababa.
Notes. Ensure you stay within the designated safe swimming zones near the resorts to avoid unpredictable lake conditions.
