The vibe
Freediving here is a quiet, introspective practice for those comfortable with cold-water immersion and low visibility. There is no mainstream tourist scene, so you are essentially on your own to find suitable, calm spots along the coast. It is a summer-only activity for the dedicated few who prefer solitude over a social club atmosphere.

A famous submerged prison and limestone quarry featuring crystal-clear spring water and surreal underwater structures like sunken buildings and machinery. Freedivers come here for depth training and unique underwater exploration in a highly transparent freshwater environment.
Access. Located about 45 kilometers west of Tallinn, easily accessible by car or public bus. Local freediving clubs regularly organize training sessions and shore entries at the site.
Notes. Water temperatures can be cold outside of summer; a wetsuit is required. Watch out for submerged metal structures.
