Freediving here is a quiet, meditative pursuit that takes advantage of the deep, still waters found just a short swim from the shore. The calm, stable conditions of the summer months provide the best visibility for training or simply enjoying the silence of the blue. It is a low-key, independent experience where you are more likely to encounter a few local enthusiasts than a crowded tourist scene.

Access. Cyprus Freediving Academy runs regular shore‑based courses from the Cape Greco visitor centre; day‑trips can be booked from Protaras or Ayia Napa with a short boat ride to the dive points.
Notes. Strong easterly winds can create surface chop in summer; the protected marine area restricts spearfishing, but freediving is permitted year‑round.
Larnaca Bay

A sheltered inlet with water clarity often exceeding 20 m, featuring a gradual depth increase to 30 m and occasional rocky outcrops that host small schools of fish.

Notes. Mild currents; occasional fishing boats in the early morning – keep clear of their lines.
Limassol Bay

Notes. Peak tourist season brings increased swimmer traffic; dive at mid‑day for best visibility.
Paphos Bay

Notes. Seasonal boat traffic for tourism; avoid the busiest midday periods if training depth.
