Freediving is not a practical activity here as the country is landlocked and lacks the necessary water environments. There is no scene or community for this sport.

While Lake Chad is primarily a shallow freshwater basin, the northern archipelago zones offer unique, calm water conditions for breath-hold training in a remote, high-altitude desert environment. Freedivers visit these isolated channels for the novelty of desert-oasis breath-hold practice and the unique, calm topography.
Access. Access is highly restricted and requires specialized local guides from N'Djamena who facilitate transport to the remote island chains. There are no formal schools; this is a destination for experienced, self-sufficient freedivers.
Notes. Extreme caution is required regarding regional security, water quality, and local environmental regulations. This is not a commercial freediving destination.
