Food culture in Peru
Including Barranco Cafe & Gastronomy District. On the map.
The vibe
Meals here are an intoxicating collision of coastal seafood freshness, high-altitude tubers, and centuries of cross-cultural technique that tastes far more vibrant and experimental than standard South American fare. It is a year-round culinary obsession where you can sit on a plastic stool for raw ceviche at noon and book a white-tablecloth tasting menu that redefines tubers by nightfall. The dining scene ranges from bustling neighborhood broth joints packed with locals to slick, internationally praised reservation-only rooms.
