The rivers and coastal fringes are most productive during the transition between seasons when water levels stabilize. You will find a very DIY atmosphere, relying on local guides who know the shifting currents and seasonal migrations.
A local fishing permit is required.

The coastal waters off Kribi are a primary destination for recreational angling in Cameroon, offering access to Atlantic species including barracuda and snapper. The area is known for its blend of river-mouth fishing and nearshore boat excursions where the Kienké River meets the ocean.
Access. Visitors can hire local pirogues or small motorboats from the Kribi port area. Local guides are available to arrange half-day fishing trips.
Notes. No formal recreational fishing license is strictly enforced for casual visitors, but it is advised to coordinate with local boatmen who are familiar with local maritime regulations.

The volcanic coastline near Limbe offers rugged shore fishing opportunities and access to deeper offshore grounds. The area is frequented by anglers looking for sportier species in the shadow of Mount Cameroon.
Access. Shore fishing is possible from the rocky beaches near Limbe. Boat charters can be arranged through local maritime operators at the Limbe fishing port.
Notes. Be aware of the strong currents in the Gulf of Guinea; always use a local guide when venturing offshore.
