Anguilla’s fishing scene offers both shore and boat fishing, with a mix of reef and deep‑water opportunities that feel like a relaxed Caribbean pastime. The best catches occur from December to April; the wet season can be less productive. Visitors often rent gear and hire local charters, making it a fairly organized activity, though some choose to fish independently.

Surrounding the flat limestone island of Anguilla are crystal-clear Caribbean waters and vibrant coral reefs. Anglers target species like yellowtail snapper, grouper, barracuda, and blue runner along the nearshore reefs and shallow banks.
Access. Visitors can book local charter boats out of major bays and harbors like Island Harbour or Sandy Ground. Light tackle and bottom fishing trips are readily arranged with local captains.
Notes. A temporary fishing permit is generally required for visitors wishing to fish in Anguilla's waters, obtainable through the Department of Fisheries and Marine Resources.
