The vibe
Scuba diving is virtually non-existent for travelers here due to heavy river runoff and zero coastal visibility along the muddy continental shelf. There are no dive shops, charter boats, or recreational sites catering to underwater exploration. Visitors looking to log bottom time will need to look elsewhere in the Caribbean.

Statia offers a mix of historical wreck diving and pristine volcanic reefs that are rarely crowded. The area is known for its biodiversity and the 'Charles L. Brown' wreck, a massive cable-laying ship.
Access. Dive operators based in Oranjestad provide boat access to the protected marine park sites.
