The vibe
Scuba here feels like exploring a submerged crossroads of history, gliding past Roman amphorae and rugged rock formations rarely touched by crowds. Early autumn offers the sharpest visibility after summer storms. Dive operators are few and specialized, so the experience leans toward intimate, almost private excursions.

Located near the Tunisian border, Farwa Island offers clear Mediterranean waters with extensive seagrass meadows and rocky outcrops that attract diverse marine life. Divers visit this area to explore the relatively untouched underwater topography and the vibrant biodiversity of the Libyan coast.
Access. Access is primarily via private boat charters from the nearby city of Zuwarah, as there are no large-scale commercial dive centers on the island itself.
Notes. Best visited during the summer months when sea conditions are calmest; visibility is generally high.
