Diving here is a specialist affair relying on experienced local skippers rather than sprawling resort operations.

Guernsey offers world-class temperate water diving, characterized by an abundance of historic shipwrecks and dramatic rocky reefs teeming with life. Divers frequently visit the site of the SS Prosperity and the various wrecks scattered around the Hanois Rocks, where strong tidal currents support vibrant soft corals and dense shoals of fish.
Access. Several local dive centers and independent charter boats operate out of St Peter Port, offering daily trips to the surrounding reefs and wreck sites. Certification is required, and boats are well-equipped for the technical requirements of the area's tidal conditions.
Notes. Strong tidal currents are a defining feature of the Channel Islands; diving is strictly planned around slack water windows. Seasonality is best from May to September.
