The vibe
Diving here is a serious, expedition-style undertaking focused on historic shipwrecks and cold-water marine ecosystems rather than coral reefs. The environment is challenging and requires specialized gear to withstand the intense chill and unpredictable currents. It is a niche activity for experienced divers, with very little in the way of a commercial holiday infrastructure.

The coastline surrounding Stanley and the outer islands contains a significant number of historic shipwrecks, many of which are accessible to experienced divers. These sites provide a haunting look at maritime history preserved in the cold, clear South Atlantic waters.
Access. Access to specific wreck sites is conducted via local charter boats operating out of Stanley. Divers must coordinate with local maritime authorities and dive guides to ensure site access and safety compliance.
Notes. Many wrecks are in shallow to moderate depths but require advanced wreck diving training due to the age and structural integrity of the vessels.
